With SAP S/4HANA 2020, we have shipped a message monitor for business users in SAP Fiori UX technology that you can access from your Fiori launchpad.
As you may know, the message monitoring capability in SAP S/4HANA is actually based on SAP Application Interface Framework (AIF). So far, AIF provided a message monitor either in the SAP GUI or as Web Dynpro pages. With SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2005, and now also on-prem with SAP S/4HANA version 2020, the monitoring is now also supported in SAP Fiori UX technology.
Let me show you a couple of its monitoring capabilities.
In the Fiori launchpad, select the Message Monitoring Overview tile below the Message Monitoring space.
The message monitoring overview page shows you the status of all the interfaces that are assigned to you in a tile layout. Each interface is displayed with AIF namespace, AIF interface name, and version. The tile header can be customized to show an own interface description instead.
By default, the message processing status of last 2 weeks is displayed. You can change the date and time period from the filter on top of the page.
You can click on any status in the tile to navigate to the message monitoring app.
In the message monitoring page, you get all messages of the selected interface, time period and status displayed. Besides status, processing date and time, message ID, and the log messages you get the key values displayed if for the respective interface such have been configured. The very same attributes can be used for filtering as you can see from the top of the screenshot below.
The filters and columns displayed can be customized.
For an individual message, you can click on the log message to get the complete log history displayed.
In order to inform your peers which are assigned to the same interface about the error resolution progress, you can set the process status. By doing so, you can avoid multiple people working on fixing the same issue. In the table header, select the button Set Process Information.
In the upcoming dialog, choose between In Process, Blocked or Completed, and maintain a comment.
The process status and processor are then displayed in the list of messages.
You can click on the Comment link to get the history of comments displayed.
Furthermore, you have the option to restart or cancel messages from here. If you select multiple entries in the list of messages, you can carry out the actions in mass.
If you click the arrow icon on the very right of a message, you enter the message details page.
In the message details page, you get the log messages, the key field values, and the payload displayed.
From here, you can either edit, cancel, restart or refresh the message.
In the log, click on Show to get the details of the log entry displayed.
A new dialog pops up.
In the log message detail dialog, when switching to edit mode you can also maintain functions, alternative message text, hints, and data links to improve the efficiency of the error resolution.
